The Gospel Project & Schools

The Gospel Project lends a smooth transition that fosters character development which is part of a school’s educational program.  The GP lessons link the teaching resolution of conflict/communication skills and the teaching of acceptance/empathy.  The Bible lessons influence children to consider how their behavior and attitudes affect others.  Jesus serves as our model going beyond head-learning to encourage heart-learning.  Character development is a key component within the public school and participation in a CKC enriches positive interactions with others.

Leaders are given the option to tell the Bible story or play the Bible story using digital storytelling which is a featured option provided with every session.  Best practice is to utilize both.  Digital Storytelling combines multimedia videos that create an exciting storytelling experience for children.  The video segment answers questions kids have and sets the stage for group discussion during club.

Movement is essential for children and can easily be integrated within the club timeframe.  Video/Audio music promotes movement through simple dance moves and hand-gestures.  Songs enable short breaks in which children can get up, move and be active which helps them retain what they’ve just learned.  Our club time addresses children’s learning modes- spatial (visual), aural (auditory-musical), verbal (linguistic), physical (kinesthetic), and social (interpersonal).

Our home extension activities through PB&J take home sheets address a child’s solitary (intrapersonal) needs to work alone and use self-study skills.

Every lesson has a Christ Connection component that points children to Jesus.  An included feature is the Gospel Presentation.  The gospel presentation videos include talking points to help communicate the gospel to kids.  The Gospel: God’s Plan for Me is a printed guide to share the gospel with club children.  The plan includes five symbols that can be used as visual aids.

Each lesson’s Missions Moments allows for collaborative learning that addresses real-word problems.  This segment allows children to evaluate situations, stimulates problem solving skills and challenges children to question issues facing the community and the world.  CKC encourages club children to live on mission by helping others and by sharing the Good News.  Children are empowered with Voice and Choice in how they can become involved in community solutions and problem assistance.  We promote altruistic projects for CKC so the hurting, helpless and harmed can know that God loves them.
