The Why?

THE NEED

Our research group suggests that nearly 50% of believers in the United States personally accepted Jesus Christ as Savior before their 13th birthday - and 64% before their 18th birthday [Barna Group].

These statistics highlight the importance of earnestly evangelizing children. The Bible charges families, individual Christians, and local churches to tell whAt the Lord has done to the coming generation (Ps 78:4; also Deut 6:7; Prov 6:20; Eph 6:1; 2Tim 1:5).

THE OPPORTUNITY

Recognizing these things, Connect Kids Club desires to give parents and churches the tools to reach children with the gospel. We believe that when a child truly encounters the gospel, everything changes. Our clubs use The Gospel Project to help children understand that the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story - God’s story of redemption and provision.

In 2001, the U.S, Supreme Court ruled that Bible based clubs should be allowed access to public schools in the United States after school hours on the same terms as other community groups. Coastal Connect is seizing the opportunity to share the gospel with children in after school programs called Connect Kids Club.

About Us

Our goal at Coastal Connect is to establish and maintain a Connect Kids Club in every public school within Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley counties.

We’ve developed an action plan to expand our club ministry by partnering with local churches.  We are committed to empowering churches to work in collaboration with local schools for the betterment of children and the community.  In partnership with schools, we know that every educator wants a classroom that is respectful, cooperative and growth oriented.  CKC wants the same for children during club time.  CKC advances best practices done during the school day in Connect Kids Club to support and strengthen what is learned in the classroom.

CKC provides the tools necessary to present the Gospel to children, to build character and to enable children to not just know more about God, but rather for them to know Him more.  We desire CKC children to understand the essential doctrines of our faith, see how all the Scriptures point to God’s plan to rescue us from sin through Jesus and join Him in His mission of seeking and saving the lost.  The Gospel Project presents our core values within the club curriculum.  The core values are-

 · Gospel Story:  Immersing children of all ages in the storyline of Scripture –  God’s plan to rescue and redeem His creation through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

· Gospel Culture:  Inspiring communities where the gospel saturates experiences and doubting children become believers who become declarers of the gospel.

· Gospel Mission:  Empowering children to live on mission, declaring the good news of the gospel in word and deed.

How will this happen?

A local church will adopt a nearby elementary or primary school.  They will supply volunteers to run a Connect Kids Club during the school year.  The Connect Kids Club office will supply training, help establishing the club in the school, access to the curriculum and support for the club throughout the year.

We encourage these churches to invite the children to their church and use the Connect Kids Club to connect with families and their community.

Our Statement of Faith

THE BIBLE - We believe in the inerrancy and supernatural inspiration of the Bible and its divine authority for every age and everyday life.

GOD -   We believe in one God that eternally exists and reveals Himself in three persons - Father, Son, Holy Spirit - having each the same nature and worthy of the same worship and confidence. We believe in God as absolute and sole Creator and Sustainer of the universe.

GOD THE SON - We believe that Jesus Christ was fully God in the flesh and fully man, that He was born of a virgin and that He lived a sinless life, in which He taught and performed mighty works and wonders He was crucified, shed His blood, died to pay the penalty for our sins and was raised bodily from the dead on the third day. He ascended to the Father's right hand where He is Head of the Church and intercedes for believers. From there He is coming again personally, bodily and visibly to this earth to set up His millennial kingdom.

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT - We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates, indwells, baptizes and seals all believers at the moment of their salvation, filling them in response to yieldedness with the goal of conforming them to the image of Christ.

MAN - We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God. We believe that all men are morally corrupt, and of themselves utterly unable to remedy their lost condition.

SALVATION - We believe that salvation is a gift of God and is received by man through personal faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sin. We believe that man is justified by grace through faith apart from works and that all true believers, once saved, are kept secure in Christ forever.
